The Vapor Caves are a Texas-bred, R&B/modern funk outfit led by singer Yadira Brown (Keeper, 10yr, LAX) and producer Andrew Thaggard (BoomBaptist). Their potent debut LP "Feel Yourself" (2019) quickly sold out of physical copies and led to a North American tour with the legendary Dâm-Funk. Linking up with acclaimed singer-songwriter Jackie Venson on this new southern brewed single, The Vapor Caves and Austin Boogie Crew are encapsulating the eclectic, soulful sounds of 2021 ATX.

“Dreams” and “Either Way” are two bumping, love-centered funk jams. Brown’s sweet yet powerful vocals flutter over a mix of lush synths, iconic drum machine chirps, and live instrumentation. Her layered harmonies are reminiscent of classic R&B groups like SWV and En Vogue. This limited 12” release includes instrumental and acapella versions of each song, paying homage to old school singles and encouraging DJ creativity.

Beginning with a popping drum break, "Dreams" is a dance-ready combo of modern funk and psychedelic vibes. Lots of ear candy here, including the deep synth bass, energetic percussion, and even some flute! Featuring guitar accompaniment and an explosive solo from Jackie Venson, this is a Texas record thru and thru.

Slowing down to a hip-hop tempo, the sway of "Either Way" will appeal to fans of New Jack Swing and UK Street Soul. 'I can’t stay away...want you to be mine.' Unrequited love never sounded so good. The passion in Brown’s voice is bolstered by Thaggard’s auspicious beat drops, before ascending to a straight house party vibe that almost demands a running-man.
